Shipped my 5 series over and the battery's already acting up – is this just what Dubai does to BMWs?

Relocated from the UK to Dubai three months ago and my 2016 520i had a fresh battery right before shipping, but now I'm getting the increased battery discharge warning every other morning and the start stop has completely given up. Took it to a random garage in Al Quoz who just shrugged and said "German cars don't like the heat" which is probably the least helpful thing you can tell someone who's already panicking about whether their car will start after a long meeting. My neighbor who's been here forever mentioned that BMWs have this whole battery registration thing where you can't just chuck in a new battery and hope for the best, the ECU needs to know it's new or it'll keep treating it like the old dying one and potentially overcharge it. That sent me down a rabbit hole and I landed on battery zone uae where they clearly spell out a proper BMW Battery Replacement Service Dubai that includes the diagnostic and registration steps, which finally made me feel like I wasn't going mad. Has anyone shipped a BMW over and gone through this whole battery adaptation drama or am I just unlucky that the garage I picked didn't even mention battery registration is a thing?
