What about when the game is ready and the time for a wipe comes. We just delete all dem npc parties ( looters etc.) and leave the whole game to be PVP only.
Soon meta will change when units start further apart. Then you'll want bunch of sharpshooters / fians to shoot while you stand infront eating all missile damage with a single shield. (right now it's that just with horse archers cuz only they can make enough of a gap between themselves and the npc)
So i say this meta gets boring fast and requires almost no skill. It's just about who's willing to grind more, effectively wasting their free time on something thats not challenging at all.
So just a basic idea:
You earn money by doing tasks, like the cargo runs, and we could have plenty more tasks like that.
Then i'd add tasks like mining, woodcutting, flax farming (like in pw)
And all those activities would be required for player driven economy.
And then for items we can have crafting systems (instead of cheesing with horsearchers)
- Also i'd add a food system so you can make items by crafting - you'd need to eat food to be able to craft.
Almost every item would be player crafted. Items upon defeat would have a decent chance of being destroyed - thus increasing the demand for good ones.
- For example: You want to craft an epic tier 5 sword. You need:
1. High enough crafting skill.
2. High quality food that takes considerable amount of time to farm and is rare. ( for example you can have wheat. And 1/10 wheat yield will be exquisite wheat. You need few of those to make exquisite flour. Then same with some secondary ingreedient like meat or whatever.)
3. Tamaskene steel which is again harder to farm, rarer ,would be a pvp target.
4. Higher quality wood.
5. Maybe even some leather/ cloth for the grip.
Now i know this might sound absolutely insane, it might just as well be.
And i know that many of these things i suggest aren't in the bannerlord crafting system. Like there is no animal farming, woodcutting, blah blah.
But from what i've seen this team already do. These things seem like a possibility.
I'd love to see a purely player driven game here. No NPC's outside of traders and arena bots.
What do you guys think ?
Also i wouldn't expect this to happen anytime soon. But maybe after a few months it could seem as a possibility ?
Edit1: Just to clarify
- Players still have NPCs in their armies. There would just not be any NPC armies.
Also with this in mind there would be no drops from player NPCs. Instead drops would be player invetory items or equipped stuff.
Also that would mean that leveling your troops would work differently. Like we could have training fields to a certain capacity.
Also using resources to level up troops.
Like for tier 5 inf you need tier 5 resources.
Yes, like this high tier troops would be A LOT harder to get and maintain ( but it'd be the same for everyone.)
Edit2: Also i'd have party limits reduced by a lot ( Like max a player can have is 10) so that the limit for the amount of players could go up in a battle. And at the same time reducing the npc impact and increasing the player impact on the battles.
Would also reduce grind.
- Not sure how limited i'd have the garrisons be then.
Edit3: And since there are so many PVE fans ( too many). It could also be made as a seperate branch of this mod.
Edit4: There is a money problem that i'm not too sure about how to fix.
For now it'd seem that the only way to make gold would be to do cargo runs, arena or normal farming. There could be a few more options.
Like any resource gathering activity could have gold reward on top of it. But instead of that i'd much rather
prefer the possible fix :
How you could "export" resources in Persistent World in Warband. Where the server would basically give you the gold. Not requiring any player to buy it from you. ( Like wood ,iron, gold bars etc.)
So you'd have the option to "export" items to town NPCs where the item would despawn, and you'd get the gold.
Or your second option would be to take the resource and use it for crafting, or sell it to the market where other players could buy it and craft items on their own.
Edit5: Also in this kind of non-NPC environment the only way to level up would be killing other players ( This could be heavily exploited) . So why have that at all ?
I suppose a simple solution would be implementing a Mercanaries mod style of characters where everyone has exacly the same level. This i would do for combat stats.
While farming/carfting stats could be seperated, and open to leveling.
Edit6: Also to motivate factions and clans to trade/war/skirmish against one another i would make certain resources more or less available in different factions.
So for example Battania would have best wood, while khuzait best ores, empire best food, aserai best cloth, sturgia best leather (just random examples) - talking about primary resources. Then they could have secondary and tertiary resource type which are accordingly reduced in quantity and, more importantly, quality.
So then you need to either trade with, or steal from, those factions.
I got plenty more ideas, but is it worth writing xD ?
