Unable to complet: The belongings of the escaped merchant

I was given a quest form "Thef" inside the tavern of Tyal.

The quest name is: The belongings of the escaped merchant
The descriptions says: Find the hidden chest of the escaped merchant in Metachia.
i walked over ther and sence it says "in metachia" i have searts the hole village with no found of the hidden chest.

Do i need a shovel ?
Is it inside the village?
How god culd the merchant hide this chest ?

Have you done the quest ?
Do you have any hints on were it might be ?

I rarely look for chests, there is not enough time for them. And I have never looked in such villages.
