The Frostlands

The Frostlands is an area added by Bannerlord Online in December 2021. This area offers some unique experiences compared to the rest of Calradia. While the area has been available for quite a long time, this FAQ is more focused on the players that are new to Bannerlord Online.

What is the Frostlands?
- The Frostlands is a large landmass on the north end of the map, with access by land in the North-East through Khuzait territory. This area is split up into multiple regions, allowing players to experience it in both PvE and PvP. The Frostlands offers rewards unique to the area.

What makes the Frostlands unique?
- Battles on Foot: All battles in the Frostlands are on foot. Mounts do not spawn in the battles (because of all the snow 🥶). Mounted units (Horse Archers, Cavalry and Players) will all spawn on foot.
- Noble Warrior Upgrade Kits: Northern units, only found in the Frostlands, can drop Upgrade Kits that allows you to upgrade regular troops to Noble troops. See (Guide) Noble units and how to get them for more information on Nobles.
- Treasure Maps: Bosses can drop treasure maps used to find hideouts containing some of the best gear ingame.
- Party/Clan based combat: Players can only join other players' battles if they are in the same group, same clan or allied clan.
Bonfires
Bonfires are some of the prime locations that players in the Frostlands will frequently visit. You can check the map of the Frostlands above to see the location of all bonfires. So what draws players to these bonfires?
- Healing: Being close to a Bonfire will provide a huge boost to healing. Allowing players to fully heal up in a fraction of the time it would take any where else. The bonfire will burn when a player is within healing range.
- Recruiting: Bonfires can have recruitable troops that can be recruited for Influence instead of money. It costs 2 influence per unit. These units will always be tier 4 or 5 and only be Infantry or Ranged units.
- Henchmen: Bonfires can also spawn Henchmen, offering a fight against high tier Northern troops with good rewards. Killing enough henchmen will also spawn the area boss, alongside his followers. (Unless the boss is already spawned)

Northern Troops
Northern troops are unique to the region and can offer some of the best loot you can find on any bandits. If you're looking to farm bandits for money, these are the troops to defeat. The party sizes for the Northern troops found in the Frostlands depend on the region, with Hawks Possession having the smallest sizes.
- Northern Bandits: The northern bandits are the common bandits in the area and still offer better money and loot than forest bandits or sea raiders, even at lower troop numbers. Do note there are 2 different types of northern bandit parties travelling across the map, having different rewards and units in their party.

- Henchmen: These stationary troops have high tier units and can provide a bigger challenge than you'd expect due to their shields and high armor. The rewards for defeating henchmen make it worth fighting whenever you see them.

- Bosses: The bosses wander around on the map and are followed by several parties wherever they go. The bosses and their followers will join in on nearby fights against any of the followers or the bosses themself. It is highly recommended to seperate the scouts first and then deal with the other followers before fighting the boss. Fighting the boss is recommended to be done with multiple players. Bosses have party size of 250 troops and their followers can be 190 or 130 in size.

Is there any way I can get upgrade kits without risking pvp? Does Hawk's possession have the same warbands for us to farm?

Yes. Hawk's Possession as a PvE area also drops both versions of the noble warrior upgrade kits from regular northern bandits (30 stacks), the henchmen (60), northern scouts (130), northern warriors (190) and Hawk himself (250).

Thanks. I actually went too far west alone because I didn't know, and got jumped by clanners with hundreds of fians.
If I might make a suggestion, this information should be easy to find in game. Like, you approach the frostlands and some random scout warns you about the 3 regions and what to expect, including the 'no horse' feature.
