Chapter 1 - Frozen Hertiage
------------------------------------
The origins of 'Clan Bravehide' are relatively unknown, although historical writings indicate the family was active in the Battanian region as early as (512). The name 'Bravehide', comes from the ancient word 'craiceann uilebheist' or 'Bear Skin' in Calradian. During the burning of the city 'Pen Crannoc' (896) many ancient texts were damaged & lost, records that held secrets of a time long gone. Fortunately, some of these early records were recovered when the Battanian King 'Eoguen' retook 'Pen Crannoc' in (943).

The first accounts of the Bravehide familiy appear around 512; these early records indicate that the family was displaced after some sort of natural disaster, where they were forced to flee the frozen, Northern Tundras. At some point thereafter, the clan made their way to the warmer and safer climate of Battania as refugees.

Consisting mostly of beggars and peasants, many of the early Bravehide Clans succumbed to disease and slavery. Their population was drastically reduced.

For those that survived, the path ahead was one of turmoil and suffering. Records indicate many of these Bravehide women were taken from their families and forced into prostitution at Ab Comer & Bog Beth villages. The men, were forced to work the farms, and the children were harvested for resources. One woman, Uulga Bravehide was taken as wife for a Battanian Lord. She proceeded to give birth to the first recognized Bravehide, 'Gorja'.

'Gorja Bravehide' was enlisted as a vassal for the Battanian Highborn King, 'Ujoul II'. Although Gorja's life was rather insignificant, it provided more wealth for the Clan. Alas, this new found prosperity was short lived, as just two generations later, the Bravehide Clan was once again forced into slavery and prostitution.
------------------------------------
Chapter 2 - Sturgian Winter
------------------------------------

180 years later, a significant event occured that would forever changed the fate of Clan Bravehide, and begin their eventual rise to power. During the Spring of 701, the Battanian realm was attacked by Kingdom Sturgia, led by the relentless king 'Vlugo Finn'. The Sturgians invaded with overwhelming strength, and by winter 703, had taken many cities and were marching upon Marunath. Conscription was forced upon every Battanian man that could bare arms as their hopes of victory rapidly dwindled.

The Sturgian infantry were relentless in their onslaught, and carved their way through the Battanian villages with ease. Survivors of these early battles recount the sheer terror inflicted by the 'Úlfhéðinn'; hammer wielding Berserkers led by 'Vlugo Finn' himself.

The Battanian's managed to muster an army of 18,000 men. These men intended to meet the Sturgians in the fields of Caen Bain, with the objective to stop 'Vlugo Finn' from approaching any further towards 'Marunath' and forcing him into one last pitched battle.

The battle raged for 2 days, after which the Battanian Army emerged victorious, pushing the routing Sturgian force back into the Stenn River.

Many Battanian warriors received commendations for their performance in the battle, particularly the Battanian light infantry who were both under-equpped and under-trained.

One such warrior named 'Luldo Bravehide' received the highest commendation possible 'The Cuelaq Star' for his efforts in the battle, and for showing bravery against overwhelming odds. 'Luldo Bravehide' went on to be come a legendary figure amongst his people, and was recognized at the King's court as someone who wielded influence and power. Luldo went on to fornicate with many women, and gave birth to over 16 children.

Chapter 3 - The Bravehides
------------------------------------
Many generations later, The Bravehides are still a forced to be reckoned with. Tales of 'Luldo Bravehide' are common around Taverns and campfires everywhere in Calradia. 'Arnulf Bravehide', son of 'Valo Bravehide' served during the recent 'Vlandian Wars' and led his own armies. He was killed in battle, but gave birth to 3 children; 'Cems Bravehide', 'Medi Bravehide', and the eldest offspring 'Luca Bravehide'. 'Arnulf Bravehide' declared to his sevants, that when he died, his possessions and influence were to be passed to the eldest daughter 'Luca Bravehide'. Although uncommon for a woman to be head of family, 'Luca Bravehide' was bestowed with this duty and currently finds herself leading the 'Bravehide Clan'.

'The Bravehides' are the first of their bloodline to disregard the ancient traditions of the Clan, and do not restrict their movements to Battanian lands; rather they travel far and wide, having formed a fairly large Vigilante force called 'Calradia Mercenaries'. The force has ambitions that stretch through Battania and beyond to the Kingdom of Aserai. Luca seeks to liberate the village of 'Tor Melina' from local Battanian warlords and restore order to Marunath. The princess has met many during her travels, and her forces now grow larger through accepting allegiance from the Aserai families; 'The Sarranid' and 'The Marwani' families, whom both have ambitions of their own.

Chapter 4 - The Zeonica Pact
------------------------------------
It is a time of peace in Calradia, but for how long this peace will last, no one one is sure. The 'Zeonica Pact' (996) requires Lords to muster no more than 95 men, and a ceasefire in place between all factions and clans. This has been enforced as a result of 'The Criminal Epidemic' where over 3 million refugees have arrived in Calradia from an unknown source. These refugees pillage, rape and steal all who they come accross, and dominate the landscape. There will be peace until this threat is dealt with; the criminals have three distinct factions, 'The Sea Raiders' in the North, 'The Forest Bandits' in the woodlands, and 'The Looters' all over.

Chapter 5 - The Arena
------------------------------------
During the summer of 1003, a tournament was held in honour of 'Luca Bravehide' at 'Seonon'. Many warriors entered the event, and a great spectacle ensued. One particular warrior (who had no name), manage to defeat several more popular competitors and found himself near tournament's end, in a duel facing the feared slave 'Faravin'. The battle was spectacular, and 'Faravin' managed to disarm the unknown warrior. As 'Faravin' approached, the unknown warrior kicked 'Faravin', forcing him to his knees. The unknown warrior grabbed onto the axe of 'Faravin', and the weapon broke in two pieces. As 'Faravin' regathered his compusure, the unknown warrior struck 'Faravin' with the wooden handle that had fallen off his axe, knocking the competitor unconscious. Luca intervened and asked the unknown warrior his name, which he announced to the Princess 'I am Forlorn'. Luca nodded, and 3 more rounds of the tournament followed. Rather than choosing a new weapon, 'Forlorn' kept the stick of wood, and somehow managed to win the tournament with an improvised weapon. Impressed, Luca declared two of the competitors 'Forlorn' and 'Faravin' to be freed from slavery, upon the condition that 'Faravin' lead his 'own army' and 'become a Prince one day'. 'Forlorn' was free to do as he wished, although 'Forlorn', being dazzled by the Princess' beauty, pledged himself to the 'Luca Bravehide', never again to leave her side. To this current day, he protects 'Luca Bravehide' and is known to the Clan as 'The Queens Wrath'.

Chapter 6 - The Modern Age
------------------------------------
And so, this prologue reaches the modern age. 'Clan Bravehide' (Calradia Mercenaries) gathers strength, and hunts criminals wherever they set foot. A large Aserai faction, known as 'The Sultan's Gaurd' has made an agreement with 'Clan Bravehide' and the two factions have entered into a Defensive Alliance. 'Clan Grimwood' another noble family, who's power is growing, have proposed marriage arrangements with 'Luca Bravehide', and the two mighty factions have entered into a Military Alliance. The realm is constantly changing, although one thing remains consistent; many peasants flock to the great markets of 'Zeonica', preparing for the war to come. Will 'Clan Bravehide' lead their people as their ancestors of late, or will they fade into obscurity, and become a feast for the ravens of the North? Only time will tell...

'Azer Sarranid'

Azer Sarranid', a former Aserai trader, was forced to flee from the Aserai lands (due to the fact that his homosexual tendencies were not accepted by the Sultan). He has found a safe haven in 'House Sarranid', where he was adopted as a brother by the warlord 'Sef Sarranid'. Azer now seeks revenge upon the narrow minded Sultan and his bigot soldiers. Even until this day, he attempts to hide his face as much as possible, fearing that Aserai soldiers will come to hunt him down.

His skill with both bow and sword is renowned, and to this day he can be seen riding through the forests of the Northern Empire and beyond. Cems' birth was the result of an affair between 'Arnulf Bravehide' and an unknown Aserai peasant. His honour is unquestionable, and his will ever strong, as he carries his family name onwards, into battle.

'Medi Bravehide'

'Medi Bravehide', sister of 'Luca Bravehide' commands a brigade of light infantry under 'The Wild Claws'. Little is known of 'Medi Bravehide' other than she is the blood daughter of 'Arnulf Bravehide'. Writings tell of her beauty being renowned through the realm. She is known for her trading skills, being able to barter prices extravagantly low from male traders.

'Forlorn' ('fearg na banrigh')

('Forlorn' (also known as 'fearg na banrigh' or 'The Queens Wrath') is a loyal follower of 'Luca Bravehide'. All who question Luca's will are destined to meet this vile creature at some stage. Many peasants have tasted the edge of his blade 'claidheamh fada'. 'Forlorn' does not carry the ability to speak; having had his tongue cut by his Imperial father from an early age. Seldom is known of this man, other than his ability to torture and kill.

'Aatrox Lothbrok'

'Aatrox Lothbrok' also know as 'Rox, son of King Ubbe Lothbrok', is a new face in the realm.
His mother, being from an unknown tribe in Khuzait, was taken as a mistress by the King of Varnovapol, and impregnated several times.

The eldest offspring of this affair was 'Aatrox Lothbrok', a Khuzait-Sturgian child born into nobility.
Lothbrok had a simple life, consisting of private education in the Varnovapol academy, the child was sheltered from much of the outside world.
Each week, Aatrox was allowed recreation time in the city streets. One day, Aatrox saw his father, 'Ubbe Lothbrok' having a dispute with an Aserai merchant in the markets of Varnovapol. The very next day, Ubbe was found dead, leaving his legacy to Aatrox.
Aatrox was only 9 years old, although the child was rightfully entitled to ownership of the fief of Varnovapol by birth right,
as regent, in time to replace his Uncle; 'Luthrox the Stern'.

Although, as fate had it, this chapter this did not eventuate, as a coup was staged against the family.
One winter night, Aatrox awoke to the screams of his uncle and siblings being butchered in their villa.
Aatrox picked up his axe, some personal belonings and fled on his Pony, heading far away, south to the Kingdom of Aserai.
2 years later, word had reached Aatrox that an Aserai Mercenary Horde had invaded the city of Akkalat, homeland of Aatrox' mother. A massacre ensued and the entire Akkalat population was slaughtered. The Seer of Sanala recalls how this incident angered young Aatrox greatly, and on that humid night, the child could be seen pacing through the backstreets of Sanala, his eyes red with fire and fury.

'I seek revenge, for the blood that has been spilled!' cried Aatrox, 'and... I will not stop, untill I have the heads of my enemies on a spear!'.
As soon as the words were spoken, Aatrox noticed a hooded figure, watching him from the street corner. The figure was lean; tall with silk browne skin, and grey whiskers that reflected the desert moon.. Although as soon as the mysterious figure appeared, he vanished again, into the night.

Many years later, Aatrox was employed by the local Baron of Uqba Castle; 'Mahoumet Nuri' as a foot soldier.
Aatrox proceeded to be involved in many battles against criminal mercenaries, and other Aserai Warlords.

One such battle, at the river of Baq, saw a vicious skirmish take place.
Out of a strength of 190 soldiers, only 60 were left standing as Mahoumet's mercenaries defelcted attacks from all directions.

Aatrox himself had fought bravely and made many kills. As Mahoumet's Legion began to loot the corpses (taking jewelry and rare ornaments from their fallen foes) a voice called to Lothbrok; 'Son of Aserai.'
Lothbrok turned to see a hooded man once again standing before him. 'You have fought well. Many of my comrades lay slain by your hand. You have defeated Sarranid soldiers this day, and our leader is most interested in your.. talents. You have been chosen, come.' Aatrox, although startled, followed the hooded man on horse across the desert and into Southern Vlandia.
There awaited 'Sef Sarranid', a feared and renown Aserai leader of 'The Sarranid' movement.
'Do not fear' said Sef, 'I will take you as my own.'

And from that day onwards, Aatrox was adopted into 'House Sarranid', as the chosen son of Sef,
Aatrox fights alongside his clan father, and to this day still seeks revenge upon the Aserai Mercenaries, for the massacre of Akkalat.
